【摘要】:Acoatingofternemetalonironorsteelarticlesisintendedtoprovidedrawability,solderability,orcorrosionresistance,orcombinationthereof,whichcanrequiredifferentamountsofcoating.Specificationsforterne-coatedsheetsfrequentlyprovideforthesedifferentclasses(weights)ofcoatingsothatpurchaserscanselectthatmostsuitablefortheirneeds.Thistestmethodprovidesameansofdeterminingtheweightofcoatingforcomparisonwiththematerialspecificationrequirements.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheweightandcompositionofcoatingonternesheetbythetriple-spotmethod.Thefollowingthreeproceduresaredescribed:1.1.1ProcedureA-Strippingwithsulfuricacid.1.1.2ProcedureD-Strippingwithhydrochloricacidandantimonytrichloride.1.1.3ProcedureE-Strippingwithhydrobromicacid-brominesolution.ProcedureB(ElectrolyticStripping)andProcedureC(StrippingwithSilverNitrateSolution),formerlyinthistestmethod,werediscontinuedbecauselackofusage.ThedesignationforProcedureDandProcedureEareretainedtoavoidfutureconfusionwhenreferenceismadeonlytotheproceduredesignation.1.2Ifthepercentoftininthecoatingisrequired,strippingwithhydrobromicacid-bromineisthepreferredprocedure.Steelwithapredepositedelectrolyticnickelcoatingrequiresatwo-stagestrippingmethodtodeterminetotaltincontent.Ifboththetinandleadpercentagearerequired,strippingwithsulfuricacidisrecommended,butcautionisadvisedsincethesulfuricacidprocedurehasbeenfoundtoproducehightinresults(seeSection11).Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardsstatements,seeSection5,Note2,andSection17.
